YBRATO SweetSpot Ligature - the perfect realization of an idea that’s been in the air for a long time …
The Evolution of Sound
1900
THE BEGINNING
The idea of improving the sound and response of a reed by specifically adjusting the gap between reed and mouthpiece is far from new. Since the early 1900s, musicians and inventors have circled around this concept, driven by the desire to unlock a single reed’s full tonal potential.
Numerous patents – like this one from the United States – illustrate the wide range of solutions that have been explored. The goal has always remained the same: to find a way to control the vibration of the reed with surgical precision.

THE LEGACY OF DANIEL DEFFAYET: VISION
Even the legendary Daniel Deffayet experimented tirelessly with specially shaped mouthpiece designs to optimize reed vibration and increase vibrational efficiency.
His pioneering work in the field of mouthpiece optimization has significantly contributed to deepening the understanding of sound production on the saxophone and opening new avenues for artistic expression.

YBRATO: THE FUTURE OF TRADITION
YBRATO bridges the gap between musical heritage and cutting-edge engineering. By combining historical insights with high-precision CNC manufacturing, we have united the visionary ideas of the past into one ultimate, modern solution: The SweetSpot Ligature. The world's first and only ligature that allows you to adjust the reed strength.
This patent-pending ligature for adjustable reed tip positioning (symmetric/asymmetric) breaks entirely new ground and has the potential to transform playing technique. The mechanism operates with high precision and responds with great sensitivity – a true highlight for discerning musicians.
Our Founder
Do you know the feeling of being pursued by an idea? Obsessive? … Perhaps. I have been a saxophonist all my life, and questions have always accompanied me along the way: What really makes the difference?…and what is the underlying cause?
In particular, I have always been fascinated by looking at musical and tonal aspects from a physical perspective. Out of this search, YBRATO and its products were born.
At this point, I would like to thank the teams at Benedikt Eppelsheim Blasinstrumente and Merriam Engineering & Design GmbH for their support in the search for the tools that truly help players express themselves musically.
